Jim Williamson became an Investment Advisor with Donaldson Capital Management in 2012 after a successful career in the real estate industry. Originally from South Carolina, Jim moved to Atlanta, Georgia shortly after graduating from Wofford College in Spartanburg, SC. Starting his career with one of the largest real estate companies in Atlanta, Jim progressed rapidly from agent to branch manager. He was soon recruited by Meredith Corporation of Des Moines, IA. As the eastern region Member Development Director for their real estate division, Better Homes & Garden Real Estate Service, he traveled from Maine to Florida working with many of the largest companies in the US.
After a number of years of extensive travel, Merrill Lynch Real Estate was able to convince him to settle down at home in Atlanta. Taking on a new challenge as well as being able to have more time with his family was the perfect answer to the stress of a road warrior. As Vice President and General Manager of the Merrill Lynch Real Estate operation he was responsible for the growth and success of 10 branch offices’ 350 agents. Later a new opportunity and challenge was presented and he moved to Coldwell Banker Real Estate as First Vice President for their Southeast Region. The region consisted of 34 branch offices and over 1450 associates.
After years of working with large national corporations the entrepreneurial urge encouraged Jim to start his own company. Working with one of the top advertising minds in Atlanta, they created Anderson & Williamson, a marketing and consulting company for the real estate industry. They developed strong working relationships many of the leading companies throughout the country. Understanding the need to develop more web-based products the company merged with The Enterprise of Milwaukee, WI and was later sold to Homestore.com of Thousand Oaks, CA. Homestore.com developed the National Association of Realtors website, Realtor.com.
Jim and his wife Trisha have been married for over 30 years; they are actively involved in Peachtree Presbyterian Church and Ansley Golf Club. Their oldest son, Scott, is a CPA and lives with his wife Brooke in San Francisco. Their youngest son, Patrick, is involved with his own entrepreneurial adventure working for a successful start-up company in Washington DC.
